Day 1: Arrival & transfer to Nyungwe Forest
Meet your driver-guide in Kigali and proceed to Nyungwe Forest National Park in southeastern Rwanda. Enjoy this gorgeous journey through Kigali, with views of the undulating hills of Randa. Drive to the Lodge dinner and overnight stay
Day 2: Chimpanzee Trekking & canopy walk
After breakfast, go to Uwinka information centre for registration and chimp trekking briefing. Begin your walk to visit the endangered chimps in the jungle at 8:00 a.m. You will spend an hour with the chimps, learning their mannerisms, taking photographs, and enjoying their company.
Trekking may be done in either the main forest or the Cyamudongo forest, although both experiences are worthwhile. Chimpanzees, the handsome L’Hoest’s monkey, the endangered golden monkeys, strong troops of the delightfully acrobatic Angola Colobus, vervet monkeys, Silver Monkey, Hamlyn’s Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Dent’s Mona Monkey, Olive Baboon, Grey-cheeked Mangabeys, and other primates may be seen.
The walk will also take you to witness the big blue Turaco and the Rwenzori Turaco, paradise flycatcher, a long-tailed blue, orange, and white bird, and forest hornbills, among other things. Join a 2-hour canopy hike in the afternoon for an incredible airborne perspective of the forest, animals, Virunga mountains, and adjacent settlements. Dinner and an overnight stay at the lodge.
