DETAILED ITINERARY

Days 1-4: Welcome to South Africa

When you arrive in Johannesburg, you will be taken by private charter jet to Londolozi.
Londolozi is located in the Kruger National Park’s Sabi Sands section, which when combined provides an area of over two million hectares of unspoiled wilderness where a variety of species freely wander.
Considering its distant and wild position, Londolozi Pioneers Camp is the height of style, refinement, and luxury. You settle into your luxurious accommodation, take in the scenery, and get ready for the excitement of the afternoon’s game drive.
When you go out in the cool afternoon air, you will see a profusion of animals and birds. While the Big 5 are popular, there is much more to see and do than a species checklist. Leopards in this area are known for their easygoing demeanour as they go about their daily lives.
Nothing will prepare you for the awe you’ll experience when you see a pride of lions for the first time – the very presence of these majestic creatures, with their rippling muscles and haunting amber eyes, will send shivers down your spine.
Each day includes early morning and late afternoon game drives with your knowledgeable guide and professional tracker.
Following your early morning drive, the big meal that awaits you upon your return is very pleasant, and this luxurious eating is best followed by a guided bush walk, which gives a refreshingly close-to-nature perspective of the animals and plants.
Afternoons in Africa are made for leisure and relaxation: recline near your plunge pool or indulge your senses at the spa. That night, Londolozi’s superb cuisine and exceptional wine cellar round out the day with a romantic, candlelight meal under the stars.

Day 1-4

Days 5-8: Into Zambia

Before boarding your chartered jet to Livingstone, Zambia, and then to Thorntree River Lodge, have one more lunch.
Thorntree exudes unique charm and modern sophistication. Set on the banks of the majestic Zambezi River, upstream from the Victoria Falls, you may enjoy the best of both worlds: close enough to be driven into the rush and bustle of Victoria Falls Town, yet far enough away to have unending peace and calm.
A sunset trip on the Zambezi is an excellent way to become acquainted with the river. You glide across the river in golden light, watching animals come down to drink. Hippos squabble and chortle in the deep canals, while African fish eagles make their distinctive sounds from the towering trees on the bank. You glide along in a state of peace, surrounded by a wilderness of water and woods that emanates a wonderful intensity as the sunset paints the sky in an exotic pallet of colour.
You are well situated from this picturesque location to enjoy the multitude of activities on offer, such as an optional helicopter tour over the Victoria Falls. These falls, nicknamed ‘The Smoke that Thunders’ by local tribes, are a natural wonder where millions of gallons of water spill through a massive breach in the earth’s crust into a boiling pit below.
The spray from the falls can be seen for kilometres around, and the noise is a deep rumbling that makes the earth quiver. It is a really awe-inspiring sight that lives up to its name, and the view from above is nothing short of amazing.
A boat may reach to Livingstone Island, which stands in the midst of the river, nearly on the edge of the falls, providing a unique perspective of this phenomena. More adrenaline-pumping activities include bungee jumping from the bridge above the canyon and white-water rafting down the different spectacular rapids.

Day 5-8

Days 8-12: The South Luangwa

Your flight departs Victoria Falls for Mfuwe, on the borders of South Luangwa National Park. Your guide will meet you there and transport you to Chinzombo.
Chinzombo, with its perfect combination of simplicity and refinement, elevates the South Luangwa bush-camp experience to a whole new level of luxury and sophistication. The lodge, which is set in a grove of trees at a bend in the river, has embraced innovative technology to reduce environmental effect and uses recycled or locally produced sustainable materials in its construction. However, there is still a spirit of ancient Africa in the design and utilisation of indigenous crafts and building processes, creating a lovely combination of history and modernity. There couldn’t be a more unusual place from which to enjoy an exceptional wildlife adventure than the Luangwa Valley’s teeming wilds.
Allow yourself to be surprised as you go through a millennia-old terrain where hippos tumble and grunt in the river and fish eagles emit their cryptic call from the trees above. The region’s world-renowned quantity of game provides an exciting encounter. Your guide unveils the mysteries of this unique environment as it unfolds around you, such as where the chattering of an upset monkey may bring you to a gigantic tree, where he rattles the uppermost branches in a rage.
With binoculars, you could see nothing except thick woods, shrubs, and trees until a shadow detaches itself from a horizontal limb and the distinct outline of a cat appears. A leopard slides with liquid ease from limb to branch, then to the ground, before vanishing into the jungle, black against the background and far away.
Finally, the day comes when you must bid farewell to this unique part of Africa. During the trip back to Mfuwe and your return home, you reflect on your fantastic adventures: the sights, scents, and sounds of a primitive place where nature still reigns supreme, as it has for millennia.
